Founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, an Austro-Hungarian engineer born in Maffersdorf, Austria- Hungary (today, Vratislavice, Czech Republic). The Porsche headquarters and main factory are in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany. Over the years Porsche has consulted various car manufacturers and also helped Harley Davidson design the engine for the newer V-Rod motorcycle. Porsche has also been successful in many branches of auto racing, scoring more than 28,000 victories and remains the world's largest race car manufacturer.
